Other useful tools are arpwatch, which emails root any changes in the ARP
table (new addresses, changed addresses, and flip-flops [stealing IP
address])

On the client side, you can get the MAC address of the windows machine by
clicking on Start, Run, and entering 
        winipcfg /all
on the command line box.
This is for win95/98

For win NT use ipconfig, while running in a DOS command prompt.
