I haven't used the commercial CorelDRAW9 + Corel PHOTOPAINT, yet, but I
have checked out the downloadable Corel PHOTO-PAINT 9 and to be honest I'm
disgusted. It seems to be Windows code packaged with a pre-configured
Corel WINE and this "thing" they call the FontTastic font server (argh!
Another font server to contend with and to attempt to synchronize with my
X Font Server!!!). Sa sobrang pathetic nung Corel PHOTO-PAINT (at least
for me, on a Pentium II 300MHz with 128MB of RAM) eh pati paglipat ng
folder sa open/save dialog boxes eh nag-re-redraw nung dialog box.
You may differ from me, but I think I'd rather wait and throw my support
for the open source projects whose developers have their heads screwed on
right: releasing applications for Linux not to exploit the hype but
because they believe in the philosophy, design and culture of Linux, with
the objective of creating software that are true alternatives, not just
pathetic semi-substitutes for existing mainstream Windows applications.
Let me know what you think about Corel DRAW 9 + Corel PHOTO-PAINT 9 if and
when you check it out, though. Thanks. :)
