ah yes. but i think we should take into consideration ergonomics. most users find it easier to press alt than ctrl. why? because to press the control button your entire hand must pivot on the home keys just to reach it (if you type properly). with alt, you just move you thumb side ways. there is less stress on the hands. i know that it will hurt if you have your hands continuously pivoting because of playing warcraft with a mouse (so now i just stick to playing nethack). and that is why also i prefer vi-type keys than emacs keys. i don't like my hand to move much from the homekeys. but how about the escape button? well... :D *ducks from flames* -- Allan M.
