believe me, stick to mswindows (for now). because ym,etc. sucks on
gnu/linux and not to mention the learning curve for your customers
when using other clients such as gaim, kopete, amsn, etc. although
the alternatives may do the job (or excellent job for that matter)
users would still request for the original YM,etc. client since
they already got used to it.
