Debian Sid on a Compaq Presario 1920 with similar specs (PII 300 + 64MB) works fine with me. I'm using Xfce4 because, for obvious reasons, KDE and is painfully slow. Firefox takes a bit of time to load but once loaded it is pretty much usable. Actually, Firefox's performance is acceptable. Xfce4 lives up to its claim as a lightweight desktop. Despite the puny specs of my latop, the gui works great. I tried Fedora Core 1, Xandros and Knoppix on the same laptop. All are resource hogs. The laptop is usable but I get better performance with Debian Sid.
