rxvt consumes even less memory than xterm..
ahh the good old days.

regarding my larger memory footprint, i have no idea.  :P
maybe (1) 32-bit color depth; (2) overuse of antialiased fonts; (3)
very deep scroll buffer? (although this shouldn't contribute THAT
much)
