like i said, you dont have to have a network to harvest the potential of this software. if you are using dual-boot machines then it will save you time for reinstalls. just create a backup image of the most pristine installation (in the case of windows installation it means with all drivers and patches installed). i rarely use it on a linux installation because i always reinstall to get a clean slate. mandriva installation takes about 10mins of supervised steps and the rest is done while i am doing some other chores. to steer it back ontopic, partimage is not directly comparable with norton ghost in the sense that it only works on partitions (well, it was when i last looked). i was previously attempting to do a knoppix+<scriptable partitioning software>partimage+samba solution for network installation of our windows workstations but some crappy dell nic and task prioritization got in the way. maybe someday i can still get around to doing it, or trying mondo if it has network support and is carried by livecd distros (or morphing one with morphix). <snip> ciao! -- "Programming, an artform that fights back" Anuerin G.
