Hello linux community!

Here's my predicament, I've been struggling the whole weekend to make my damned ATI Radeon 9600 to work optimally in my linux box. I really would like to enable Direct Rendering so that I could run my Cedega setup at fast rate. Here what I did:

Check Direct Rendering support:
# glxinfo | grep rendering
output: Direct Rendering: No

Run glxgears benchmark:
#glxgears
output: 250fps (must be above 500fps)

I installed the ATI propietary drivers with
#rpm -Uvh --force fglrx-6_8.0.21.rpm

But after that the glxinfo and glxgears won't run anymore and by typing:
#fglrxinfo
It still says that I'm using MESA drivers.

I tried everything what I could see on the net (Too many to type all here). I've downloaded the kernel patches, recompiled my kernel, removed all MESA, edited my xorg.conf file but still no to avail. I'm scolding myself for buying Radeon due to their poor linux support. I hope someone could help me with this. A good link to a forum might help. Thanks in advance! :-)
