Yup, a majority of the 10 computer net cafes wouldn't even be financially capable of purchasing windows, what we're trying to do is give them an alternative, cause when it comes to OS the choices are quite limited. As Orlando stated better to stay open with an alternative openoffice and some games running then to stay closed forever, cause as a cafe you have to consider the rent/electircity/etc... Chances are they haven't even recoup their initial investment in the purchase of their computer hardware, especially if these are the cafe's pricing their rental fees at P10 to P15.

As far as it goes, not many would like to invest around P25,000 per
workstation (a conservative estimate) for software alone (with P18,000
going to OEM versions of Windows and Office, then the remaining P7,000
for the licenses of other windows-based utilities such as antivirus
and console games which average at P1,500/ application) just to charge
a measly P25 /hour for each and every customer. It simply isn't
profitable to cafe owners that way.
The problem with making crime easy, is that everybody becomes a criminal.
That 25k/workstation is very conservative, what with Photoshop alone costing $600 up.
The bottom-line is, they either close shop, or offer a much-reduced set of software functionality by using Linux everywhere. Or they can keep going the way they're doing things now, and run the risk of going to jail or getting their pants sued off.
