first, check ur mail logs, probably in /var/log/maillog..if u can't find anything unusual, check ur IMAP server. u can tweak php to increase its execution time. Open ur /etc/php.ini file and look for the "Resource Limits" section. Increase ur max_execution_time. Reload/restart ur web server.
