I just got from the Makati Central Post Office. A customs officer asked me to request for tax excemption from the Department of Finance before they release the CDs. I plan to go to DOF to file for a request and to eventually have my CDs.
I'm just wondering if PLUG can write a letter to the Secretary of Finance 1. for tax excemption on Ubuntu CDs and 2. for them to direct the customs officers in different post offices that Ubuntu CDs be tax excempt.
Hopefully if this is done, there will be less trouble claiming the Ubuntu CDs.

This, according to them, will make it easier for those who will be receiving such cds in dealing with the Customs personnel in the different post offices.After that, they asked me to pay the 30 peso parcel fee and while I was paying (since they were not so many people claiming parcels), they started asking me what the cds were all about - so I gave them a very brief lecture on what it is..... then, in a nice way, they asked if they can ask a copy from me since they have friends who have small computer rental businesses - so I gave them some copies for them to try or at least let their friends try the software.Anyway, thank you to all those who responded to my email and thank you to Mr. Guy Tacorda for his very sincere offer to help (I know you're busy though so I did not bother you first, but I would have if they did not release the cds after this visit).I suggest for those of you who just left your cds in the Post Office's Customs area to do the same thing I did or if it won't be such a bother, once you get the parcel notice and they tell you that you have to pay a hefty amount for the cds, go to the Dept of Finance and get an exemption letter before going back to the post office.Thanks again.Cindy
