While downloading the VMWare player, why not download an Ubuntu VM as
well? If you're still using windows, you can try out Ubuntu without
rebooting or loading a Live CD. Just download the image, install the
player, and point the virtual machine and you'll have an Ubuntu system
running inside your current operating system.
