Microsoft Windows security IS an OXYMORON. They may pay lip service to security
with creeping security features (their implementation of ACL's is quite
technologically advanced, and .NET's security framework is really admirable) but they still DON'T GET security. I guess the bad decisions (graphics routines in the kernel, HTTP server as in-kernel - WTF?) accumulated since 15 years ago is still haunting them. In fairness, the original NT design was good on paper
:D

Here's a piece of trivia many do not know. The original Windows NT has the acronym WNT which had been originally designed by Dave Cutler, the person responsible for the design VMS, the operating system of VAX (Fomerly DEC, renamed Digital, bought by Compaq, which terminated the VAX line but continued the Alpha line, which in turn was bought by HP). VMS has one of the most powerful ACL system, was designed with security in mind and eventually integrated an RDBMS with the operating system (RDB). WNT is actually one character shift from VMS (which took off from Space Odyssey -- like IBM to HAL).
