Bill (naks, close kami!) probably made those decisions so that WinNT would be
faster! meaner! and all. (I dont really know the whole story). After all, a lot
of users plain don't care. We just want Doom to crank out more fps'es, watch a
DVD without skipping; or my player telling me to put in some command line
options to tweak performance (;.
the ironic thing is, WinNT is already performance-crippled compared to Win95, when running Win16 applications. so it's not like Bill tossed security out the window. they did have *some* intent of cleaning things up, hence the slow Win16 execution using an unbranded Insignia SoftWindows to emulate Win16 in a 32-bit protected mode environment.
Windows is instant noodles. Bad for you, but convenient.
Now linux...linux is a kitchen.
This one's actually good. You sure that's original? :)
If so, it's well worth immortalizing.
