I am giving a feedback sa hardware setup ko for this squid caching proxy server:
Old Squid box was: 1 Gb system memory 2 x 9 Gb Barracuda SCSI Pentium III 800 Mhz New Squid box (again): 2 Gb system memory 4 x 80 Gb hardisk (7200 rpm) Celeron 2.6 Ghz Sa new squid box na ito ay nakita ko ang difference sa pag-download ng websites at pictures na mas-mabilis compare sa old squid box. That means na malaki talaga ang advantage ng bigger memory (lots of memory) at maraming hardisk (kahit hindi ito SCSIs). Dapat talaga five (5) hardisk drives ang binili ko para mas-maganda ang response at performance ng squid box. Siguro nakatulong din ang newer softwares (OS and application) na installed sa box na ito kaya gumanda ang peformance. Today nakaka 1Gb system memory usage na ito. Hopefully hindi siya gagamit ng malaking or no at all sa swap memory, para hindi babagal ito. We are enjoying this new squid box that cost the clone hardware P51K. Sulit naman. Regarding sa error na nai-post ko yesterday, according sa link na binigay ng ating kaibigan dito sa forum ay mukhang related ang error na ito sa cache_peer (parents) na naka configure sa squid.
