This is possible, but certainly clumsy... :) You can use TextMail if
you're on SMART -- you need to register though, that's 2.50 per SMS. I
use it myself for real mobile email -- which I can get through SMS.

You get 10 MB worth of mailbox, and can get the mail delivered directly
to your phone -- you'll be able to get an email address like
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and just have your mail from some other account
sent to your TextMail account. You also have the option of just getting
the alerts, and know whether you have new mail anytime of the day. :)

HINT: If you have relatives in the US, or some other place in the world,
it's cheaper than international SMS at P2.50/SMS ;)
