Its not because they dont belive in the power of FOSS, in fact

Huh? Really? What do you mean "there's no money in it [FOSS]"? That
there's no money involved in the creation of FOSS technologies?
(AFAICS, that is far and away from the truth, noting that several of
the big blue-chip companies are investing on FOSS both to address
their own issues as well as to explore new answers to old problems,
and that _does_ involve a lot of money.)
Or that FOSS technologies are worthless? (From the vantage point of a
manager, this is a stupid way of looking at FOSS; have you _ever_
realized that some of your most used "killer apps" you take for
granted right now are powered by FOSS. Not to mention that Web 2.0 is
_here_, not there in the distant future, but here now, and FOSS is
playing a key role in its existence.)
Or that making money out of FOSS is impossible? (The model of
software being a product is pretty much _old_, really. Creative and
critical collaboration is key.)
As for the act of telling CoA about the worth of CentOS and qmail,
don't. Let them figure it out for themselves. What is 10M worth of
software be, if it can't do the job it is supposed to do, when you can
have 0 cents of software that can actually move mountains, and yet at
the same time allow you to change the way it works, even without
needing the software author's permission (or paying royalties even)?
Caveat: IANAMgr, and even more IANAL. I'm 21 years old, and I'll
probably look back at this when I'm 42. I still hope there's cable TV
by then.
Cheers,
Zakame
