The 'service' command is basically used by people who can't be bothered to type the full pathname of an initscript in the /etc/init.d directory. I'm frankly not sure why Red Hat thought it was so difficult for administrators to type '/etc/init.d/httpd start', which is exactly what 'service httpd start' does. -- It is *so* convenient to have a system where everyone is a criminal. http://stormwyrm.blogspot.com/ _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
