Yes, that is correct. I've been using a Cisco/Linksys WRT54g router to do roughly the same thing (my sister's room is downstairs and mine is upstairs, that saved cabling), and I'll give it a recommendation, as it's reasonably cheap (3k or so) and you can later flash it so you can access the embedded GNU/Linux. Since we're both using laptops with integrated WiFi, I can't really make recommendations as to what WiFi cards you can buy, especially for desktops. The Prism/Orinoco chipsets seem to be the best supported by GNU/Linux, and PCMCIA versions of cards that used them were what I used with my old laptop, which didn't yet have integrated WiFi capability. -- ...the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. http://stormwyrm.blogspot.com/ _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
