I didn't know about this. I'm used to using vi for most of my editing. I use gedit for "copy-pasting" Japanese characters into my files and iconv to convert UTF-8 character encoding to EUC-JP so that i can read the text in my Tera Term Pro terminal (had to store the text file in a server and access it through a terminal for testing my program). Now, I'm thinking of switching to emacs. Maybe I'll also download mule and try it. Thanks. ^_^

I love how Emacs Does the Right Thing. It autodetects encoding when
you load the file and you can change the encoding before you save it. =)
