Hamachi, like OpenVPN and tinc, wouldn't be considered a "proper" VPN (like 
L2TP with encryption, PPTP with encryption, and IPSec). but they do the job 
just as well. OpenVPN and tinc are freely available and comes with FOSS 
licenses, so it's a good value proposition (for me at least).
