and a "good" comment about "better" support for hardware. i don't mean to start a flamewar but afaik almost "better" linux hardware support are half-baked (even on other archs like i386). still on "better" hardware support. i haven't seen any linux driver that can beat openbsd's lsi/ami raid driver. maybe on other drivers, mas ok ang driver ng linux but then again, let's admit the fact that some linux drivers on the base kernel simply sucks. (sorry to say this but it does) technically, linux can't beat mac os x in macppc platform! since macosx is specifically written for that piece of hardware. As far as Commercial concerns, Apple release their kernel as FOSS, however due to the technicality of users who want their operating system to be stable as well as easy to use, easy to manage, and no problems with installation of drivers et.al. users have to pay for it. Sulit naman eh, and very much stable. MacOSx is the way to go for ppc. > > Let me quit with a slogan stolen from #debian-ppc on FreeNode some > time ago: "Linux on PPC: think of it as a never-ending IQ test." MacOSX on PPC: you don't have to think because the OS WILL JUST WORK! and your IQ will be used on other important matters. > > -- > Zak B.
