Yes... great if eric would share :) As for my setup... we started IPhil Communications in early 1995. The Internet connection went live around July. I don't even remember the exact date - because we spent weeks trying to get the BER test for the 64 Kbps Philcom-Sprintlink circuit to clean up. We had two servers: HP Vectra with 60 Mhz Pentium - yes there was such a clock speed, but it was immediately supplanted by 66 Mhz. This was a desktop PC. We stuck in a Future Domain SCSI controller, for a 1 GB SCSI HDD (if I recall), and a Cyclades 16-port asynch card. HP NetServer - the big heavy one - with onboard Adaptec aic7xxx (?) SCSI controller. I had to patch the kernel to get this to work. We were running Slackware at the time. I did run Debian on one server at one point, but we switched to Red Hat for RH4 if I remember. _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
