i'm not closing my eyes or ears on the report but when i reviewed
the data, nothing is directly pointing to GNU/Linux systems. they
simply assumed that some of the vulnerable applications (PHP,
etc.) can only be hosted on GNU/Linux when in fact the mentioned
applications are OS-independent thus it can be hosted on MS Windows,
Solaris, BSD, etc. operating systems.
sponsored by MS? hahaha, kidding aside, those applications mentioned i.e. mambo, phpbb...etc. are known to have security issues no matter what OS they run.
