if you have a PC running linux doing NAT into the DSL box, then MRTG the linux eth0.

if you have an SNMP-capable firewall like a Linksys, MRTG the linksys.

another way is to put a linux bridge between the DSL modem and your internal network. since the linux box is a bridge it won't be visible at all. but you can sniff the traffic on the bridge and do some nice reports.
