That's intresting....  install windows, you'll find out for sure if it's a hardware problem or a 'linux' problem.

The boot up is "normal".  It just takes a long time,
like it takes a minute or more for GRUB to load the
kernel.  And then each service that is starting takes
long as well, compared to other boxes with similar
configs.

I have a P4 Duo that boots up Ubuntu and all the
VMWare VMs (7 VMs) in 5 minutes.  The "wierd" box
boots up Ubuntu in 20 minutes.
