Nice, thanks. :) It's good to know that XMPP is being used for
something else other than IM already.
others might think of it as reinventing the wheel. yes
it's true but after a lot of evaluation, development and
customization is much faster as compared to using
other existing projects. (ie. VB xmpp clients, hehehe).
just dont try to host a lot of clients on a single high-end
machine. instead, distribute the xmpp service on two or
more machines because numerous clients (600 or more)
sending simultaneous messages can put the server to its
knees.
What kinds of system loads have you seen with your experience with
XMPP? Is it more processing intensive than communication intensive
granted that it's in XML?
