It can help a little. But your system will crawl if you try to run
multiple apps at the same time. Let's say Firefox, Thunderbird, and
Open Office all running at the same time.

Right. I personally don't use OpenOffice.org much. I'd rather use Abiword and Gnumeric. Well, then again, there are some office apps online which I find handy right now (like Zoho Sheet, Writely)

I just wish Firefox, Thunderbird, Seamonkey, nvu and other
Mozilla-based projects to just use one XUL run-time engine to save
resources. Right now, each application uses it's own XUL run-time
engine.

Yeah. Rawr. It could be such a pain... @_@
