I am using Edimax BR6204-Wg.
I tried to change the original firmware to Linux (available at their website).
I unzipped and extracted the package. I found an image file named 11gfw-1.1.bin and uploaded it to the Wireless Router via its web interface 'upgrade firmware.'

The switch rebooted after I pressed 'OK.' And then (of course), the web interface stopped working.

I can't identify the ip address of the switch. I tried the usual 192.168.1.1 (or variants of it) but still could not ping it nor can I connect to it. :(

So, I decided to make a 'hard' reset thinking that it will be reset to the original firmware. But it did not.

Question1: Is that a junk router already?

nope

Question2: Pointers on how to connect to that switch and configure it?

contact your edimax reseller and have them replaced, you have to lie though regarding the reason why it stopped working, this always works for me when i messed something up :D

I don't think Mhac is the lying type.
