arms race. dunno if that's good. mutually assured destruction is what they used to call it. MAD-- where both superpowers had the assurance that the other had nukes pointed at them and both were afraid to destroy the world
Well who are using nuclear weapons now? And what drove the cold war? ideology. we are fighting the third world war right now. its terrorism everywhere. and whats driving it? religion!
but not afraid to retaliate if the other so much as twitches. the software that runs missiles and antimissile technology is a matter of simple physics if one really wants to focus on such things. however knowing how to build something doesn't mean you have to. its not a perfect world i suppose. weapon systems have their uses but maybe we can turn most of our attention to healthcare and education to help improve people's lives. open source--- in healthcare, in education for example have far reaching effects that levels the playing field for the under privilege and the privilege and gives people the opportunity to be better than they are.
healthcare? education? to whom? poor filipinos? thats not going to help you because they are not the one who wants to blow us all up. some people dont believe in your way of life. our way of life. they think its evil and that anyone who does not believe in their beliefs is evil. you cant appeal to the goodness in a person who is holding a gun to your head who thinks that you are evil. thats human nature. unless you lobotomize everybody thats not going to change.
