You've got it backwards. The more pragmatic way is to say we should use open source software everywhere we can NOW, and then retain or use proprietary software in the meantime in places where we can't use open source software. The government will save more that way. It can't afford to keep throwing money away on overpriced pro[prietary systems that really don't work that well either.
Of course it takes time. The most important thing is we start contributing to open source projects that we find useful. That way we control the way these projects develop. Norway is giving funding to third world countries with open source development projects. Norway practically controls where the majority of open projects go. Majority of all open source contributions come from Norway. If the present government dont want open source too bad. They just lost one vote. -- things i hate about my linux pc: 1. it takes more than a second to boot up 2. keeps asking about filenames and directories 3. does not remember what i was working on yesterday 4. does not remember all the changes i have ever made 5.cannot figure out necessary settings by itself _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
