hi!is anyone aware of any open source it management software having at least these two requirements: 1. find all computers in the network, return the os, hardware and software installed 2. most important of all, be able to keep track of the hardware's history: i.e. RAM has been changed from 32mb to 64mb on some date. accountability has been transferred to userA to userB. i have looked at ocsinventory but it doesnt have feature #2.
You can do that with email. We do in our office. Actually it tracks almost everything. Anything we wanted on record we send by email often to ourselves. A worthy project would be a search engine to facilitate split second searching keyword or phrase search. either on your desktop or in your email server. Thats a general purpose enterprise application already. -- things i hate about my linux pc: 1. it takes more than a second to boot up 2. keeps asking about filenames and directories 3. does not remember what i was working on yesterday 4. does not remember all the changes i have ever made 5.cannot figure out necessary settings by itself _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
