Not exactly unheard of.  On my system, without any devices connected, I
just have this when running lsusb:

Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000  
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000  
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 

I don't have any internal devices "plugged" into the USB ports.  If
your lsusb gives other device ID numbers then perhaps it might be
likely that you have some device internally soldered onto a USB port.
It would be interesting to see what it shows.  The device ID's might be
something you could look up here:

http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/

You might have luck doing that, and it might be that there's a native
Linux driver available too.
