But Unix isn't FOSS. It is Unix sysads *DO* cost more than Linux and BSD
sysads. But that's not FOSS. I think we should talk about Linux and BSD
sysads.
Another point we should look at is workload. Windows systems typically
require more maintenance than Unix, Linux, or BSD systems. Thus large
organizations require more M$ sysads. That alone can more than offset the
higher salaries that Unix sysads can demand.
