Hello All,

In my thinking, one way to lock in FOSS in the Philippines is to do
two things.
1. Push Bayanihan to join Asianix. This would give it the support
it needs to be used Asia-wide.
2. Push the Philippine government to use Bayanihan / Asianix.
This would ensure that you could use FOSS, and still have support
for proprietary applications.
Thanks, David. However, I do not think it is necessary to push
Bayanihan to Asianix. I mean, we can do with whatever Linux
distribution fits the bill. :) At the moment, Ubuntu (of which
Bayanihan will be (or is already) based) is the popular Linux choice
by UNDP-IOSN ASEAN+3 Node here in the country.
What is necessary is to get government IT staff certified on Linux -
I have given certification exams to more than 50 IT professionals
already and more will take the exams this coming year. Once we have a
pool of certified Linux trainers and practitioners, FOSS will be an
easy choice. :)
