if you want to learn in and outs of linux and gets your hands dirty... use
Slackware. Though for newbies who wants an easy installation like the GUI
setting up x-windows will not suitable for weak hearts. But as what Andy
says once you become familiar with Slackware you will appreciate Slackware
and Linux in general. Until now i'm still a Slackware Fan.
