The reason I stated so is that the person asking will connect to a home
based system which in most cases utilizes a personal home DSL account
and not a commercial or industrial account. In which case, depending on
the provider, the person may be breaking certain areas of the contract.
Plus assuming that it is a home pc which generally would be used by
people in the household then the speed would also be affected. And as
far as connecting through tightVNC, based on experiences by people I
know of which are using a home DSL account, they noticed that ports are
being blocked by their provider upon use of VNC in order to manage the
bandwidth.
Therefore the safest possible as i see it is connecting through ssh.
