I upgraded to kernel-2.6.20-1.2925.fc6 for my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. This kernel does not ship with Intel firmware, but now works with it. Older versions required that the Intel patches for ipw2200 and ieee80211 be installed, plus the Intel firmware. But with kernel-2.6.20-1.2925.fc6 you only need to make the firmware available in /etc/firmware, and the wireless support already works!
