I find VLC as the most versatile video player from dvd to 3gp format.
My kaffeine or mplayer will crash on certain format but not VLC. This
is also available for windows much better than media player.

I discovered that the few Linux users of Ateneo QC, namely Dr. Paulito

satisfied with the stability of "unstable". So I decided to switch from
Ubuntu LTS to Debian ETCH, on my way to "Unstable". I downloaded the ETCH
180MB netinstall iso, burned the CD and installed Debian with that CD. It
helped that I had a broadband connection, so I was able to complete the
installation of workstation, web server, and database server in around two
hours.

The Debian screens are lovely! I have not seen anything that's just so
simply beautiful (in a GUI user interface).

I decided to make the acid test -- downloaded mplayer from Hungary, and
played the "Bridge to Terabithia" DVD. Mplayer worked like a charm! Fedora
mplayer could not get my sound to work, but Debian mplayer had no such
problems. Also the mplayer GUI interface was perfect and installed correctly
into the GNOME menus.

My DVD playing life is complete!

P.S. Don't ask me if I buy pirated foreign films. I am sure that I do not
buy pirated Filipino films, because I believe in helping the local movie
industry.
