When I use jigdo to download Debian testing (ETCH), I notice that jigdo gets an entire CD by getting each file in the CD one by one, possibly from more than one source, and assembles these files to make the CD. My question: does jigdo obtain the latest versions of each file, or is there a fixed list of files that jigdo must download?
The list of files is fixed (the list can be found in the *jigdo file itself, which is a gzip compressed file). When I was using jigdo to download a DVD image, I got lots of messages at the start about missing Debian packages. A casual check showed that the packages were superseded by more up-to-date versions. I was worried whether I could finish the download, but since I couldn't find a more up-to-date *jigdo file I decided to continue to see what happened. Later I found out that jigdo downloaded the missing packages from a snapshot repository different from the mirror location I chose. The repository contained all the out-of-date packages jigdo needed to complete the DVD image. _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
