Yeah, the build-essential meta package is part of the CD. A default
GNOME installation will take up around 1.2GB already, so removing the
packages that will be most likely used by a certain segment of users
is sensible.

I think the fault here is that we are not able to point out directly
on the help page via yelp or khelpcenter what to do when you need a
certain configuration for your workstation. It does have an intuitive
beginner's help page though.
