I recently bought an Items-brand unit from a store in Park Square 1. It's
using the Philips SAA7130 chipset which is supported in Linux. I got it to
work after several config tries. MythTV, xawtv, and tvtime works on it. I'm
using KUbuntu Fesity Fawn.

I'm planning to use it to digitize my video8 collections.

Subject: [plug] TV tuner suggestion (not BTTV)

I'm looking for a more up-to-date TV tuner than cards based on the
common BTTV chipset. I know of sites like linuxtv.org but the problem
is they list models which, except for a few like Leadtek Expert, are
not available locally. Can you suggest a TV tuner with good Linux
support that I can buy at Villman, PC Express or Gilmore? My main
requirement is that it is more modern than the ancient BTTV chipset
(for example, cx88, Saa713x).
