Practically speaking, the fact that commercial Linux vendors are
distancing themselves from ReiserFS is a practical point.

Red Hat never supported ReiserFS, and Novell which used to support it,
has de-supported it.

There are several other choices for the enterprise: XFS, ZFS (which
currently works under FUSE), JFS, and of course ext3.

If you're running a database you can use OCFS or forget about the
filesystem and use ASM.

About XFS.. I am not sure how large the community involvement is.
Let's not forget that SGI is in deep doodoo as well. I'd go with ext3,
JFS, or ZFS.
