Yes you can connect using VNC then have the iso file for the distribution you 
want to install ready, after creating the new VM in the vmware console, point 
the cd-rom setting to your iso file. Proceed with the installation. I do not 
have the experienced yet with Xen, last time I try, I failed and I do not have 
the time to solved it.
