Hello PLUGgers!

Can I ask if TCP wrappers can be used to restrict access to MySQL (port
3306)? We have a database server, and for some reasons, we can't use
iptables to filter access to the port. The server uses TCP wrapper to
restrict access on sshd but what about mysqld?

I tried this on my PC and it seems that TCP wrappers don't work for mysqld,
unlike sshd. I've been googling around and some forums say that adding rules
in TCP wrappers _can_ filter access to the port. That is why I am confused
as to why my MySQL still accepts connections from remote hosts that should
be denied, even if I put deny rules.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
