16Aug2007 (UTC +8) Just thinking out loud to get a feel for what's popular out there with y'all... I'm building an FC7 workstation that would be handling several 100+ GB files for analysis. It's going to have a RAID-5 (with 1TB x 5 SATA 1.5Gbps HDD's) setup, and needs to have an encrypted filesystem... what do you suggest I go with?
The default EXT3? I've been using EXT ever since with Linux, so the advantage is familiarity for me. Should I go bleeding-edge with Reiser4? Or should I go with the fast(?) XFS? It's been said it's not suggested for an encrypted fs, but I really don't know yet. How about JFS? I have the option of using FUSE for encrypting the fs, but I'll have significant filesystem speed penalties I believe.
