Hi:

I usually boot my PC in runlevel 3 and start
X-Windows by typing "startx". When I need to used the "text
mode" (80 x 25 screen), I would press the CTRL-ALT-F<n>
keys simultaneously. There are times when after pressing
CTRL-ALT-F<n> keys, the monitor would display "No signal",
but I can still switch back to the X-Windows mode by
pressing CTRL-ALT-F7 keys simulteaneously. The behavior is
quite unpredictable (i.e. sometimes I can switch to 80x25
mode, sometimes I can't).

Also, I noticed that the behavior is less frequent
when I first switched to an empty workspace before hitting
the CTRL-ALT-F<n> keys.

     OS : Fedora Core 6
     X-Windows : GNOME 2.16

     Any ideas?

Many thanks,
ludwig.

PS : I know there is a "terminal" application, but
sometimes I prefer using the 80 x 25 screen.
