graphical tools on linux tend toward graphical configuration. gnome, in particular, seems to be tending toward over-complex, almost windows-registry like configuration. If you don't like that, a little googling found me: http://dave-webster.com/blog/?p=36 Which points you at gconftool, a command line program, it's not text editing, but it's not graphical either. configuration via easy to configure text files is still very common on linux. certainly it's more common than on windows. but as with everything, don't take the map for the territory. the territory changes. there's a continuum between window's almost entirely graphical configuration (you *can* do some things with old school tools such as ipconfig, net, etc) and linux' mostly text editor compatible (but moving toward graphical ease-of-use for many things) configuration. if you really want to edit the files, well, ~/.gconf/apps/metacity/general tiger _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
