i can think of two reasons: 1. everything worked 'right out of the box'. 2.
if I'm in a hole, i just google it up and a fellow ubuntu user almost always
has been through the same thing and there's documentation (more or less) of
how he got out of it.

I'm sure a case can be made re other distros as well, but as long as those
two reasons remain true I'm fairly sold.

How about you though, why do you dislike it?
