No, you don't have to install Linux software raid because the OS already sees it as /dev/mapper_blah/blah, now the problem is getting your OS to boot, we have this Adaptec hardware raid in one of our servers and if I use the said raid, the server doesn't start at all, it always gets stuck at the udev part of startup. -- http://jangestre.wordpress.com
